Late last year Civilex secured a large project tender win for the upgrade of Toll Shipping’s terminal at Webb Dock, Melbourne. The works commenced in early March and represent one of the larger projects for Civilex as a principal civil contractor.
Toll is embarking on staged upgrades to its terminals at Webb Dock and Burnie as part of a $311 million investment to boost capacity for the Bass Strait trade. The investment has also included upgrades to wharves and berthing infrastructure and the deployment of two new, state-of-the-art ships in March this year. The purpose-built ships will carry 40 per cent more cargo than the ships that were previously in operation.
The terminal upgrades will be staged throughout the year to minimise disruption to operations and will optimise the efficiency and safety of both terminals.
Civilex Project Manager Nick Loucaides has formed a team of highly qualified and skilled Engineers and Site Supervisors who have started demolition, bulk earthworks and in-ground services for the project.

The works run from March to December securing 150 construction industry jobs in Melbourne.
