Structures Leading Hand Billy Trotman loves working in the construction industry and has paved a rewarding career pathway with Symal. He has worked across numerous structures projects and says he has strapped himself in for the long-term.

In 2012 Billy commenced with Symal as an Apprentice Carpenter. Since starting at Symal, Billy has completed his apprenticeship and taken on opportunities that have provided him with valuable experience and development opportunities to upskill his construction skills and step into a more senior project leadership role.

Billy says, “I have really enjoyed working on the diverse structures projects at Symal Structures – I first started on the Camberwell Grammar project, and then major formworks package Epping Childcare to now working on large full structures packages. I’ve taken on all the opportunities and heeded the best advice from colleagues in and outside of work.”

Symal Structures always looks to promote its people who can motivate teams, read the changing direction of projects, think innovatively while being focused on on-site resources and labour requirements.

Billy values the culture of mateship that exists and flourishes at Symal Structures. “I really appreciate how everyone here from the project team on the ground to management and leadership all wants me to do well. It’s a fantastic culture to learn, grow and develop.”
