At Symal we celebrate impact and achievement. Group HSEQ Manager, George Markelis has inspired both to be accepted into the 2023 Roads Australian (RA) Fellowship program.
This unique mentoring initiative matches industry ‘up and comers’, like George, with some of the most experienced, senior leaders in the Australian infrastructure sector. The fellowship provides a valuable opportunity for the next generation to develop leadership skills, build strong networks, and stay engaged in our industry.
We’re proud of George’s commitment to learning and self-improvement, and in his own humble words to his mentor “I am the sum total of my experience and advice taken.”
Our company has experienced rapid growth in the last few years. George has been instrumental during this period – showing strong leadership, management, and adaptability – to grow his HSEQ team from 3 to 23 personnel specialising in three distinct disciplines across Victoria and NSW.
The RA Fellowship program will allow George time to pause, reflect and review what he’s achieved thus far; what has assisted him to get where he is; and intentionally plan what he needs to put in place to meet his future career goals.
Well done, George. We’re impressed by your dedication to your family, your career and Symal. We look forward to following your journey in the program over the coming year.
