The Infrastructure team based in NSW has kicked off project works at the Polo Flat Precast Yard in the southern township of Cooma as a part of the Snowy 2.0 project.

The program of works, contracted to Future Generation – a joint venture created specifically to build Snowy 2.0 on behalf of Snowy Hydro Limited, has engaged a predominately local workforce including local indigenous company Maliyan Horizon.

Maliyan Horizon Director Peter Beath stated, “At Maliyan Horizon we are focused on working with our clients and communities to implement positive change through the creation of opportunities for local workers, businesses and residents. Opportunity lends itself to growth, renewal and excellence and that is exactly what we are all about and partnering with Symal has allowed us to create strong local opportunities.”

Symal Infrastructure Superintendent Phil Caldwell, a local to Cooma, has returned to his hometown which has greatly assisted our effort in liaising with the local community and workforce.

Project works include:
• 200,000m2 of topsoil stripping
• 100,000m3 of cut to fill
• Entry road upgrade
• Construction of building pads for the precast facility
• Installation of clean water diversion drainage and sedimentation pond.
