Cowper Street Capital Improvement Project

Project completion June 2025
Location Footscray, VIC
Client Maribyrnong City Council
Sectors Roads and freeways

Unyte transformed one of Footscray’s busiest corridors, turning Cowper Street into a safer, more accessible and welcoming space for the local community.

The upgrade delivered new road pavements, improved drainage, retaining walls, footpaths, landscaping and lighting - creating a smoother, greener and better-connected streetscape.

Working in a live environment, our team kept two-way traffic flowing while coordinating closely with local businesses, council representatives and the West Gate Tunnel project to minimise disruptions. Despite challenging site conditions, including asbestos and contaminated materials, the project was completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Scope of works included:

  • Road excavation and pavement construction

  • Drainage and pit installation

  • Retaining walls, kerb and footpaths

  • Landscaping and rain gardens

  • Public lighting and traffic management
