Symal is proud to announce the appointment of Steve Cornish as Chief of Strategic Operations.
Steve comes to Symal with an impressive background, bringing over 30 years of construction experience, focusing on major infrastructure projects across road, rail, water, airport, and tunnelling sectors.
His proven delivery of projects under Design and Construct, Alliance, and PPP contracts makes him a valuable addition to Symal’s executive leadership team.
Steve’s most recent role was as the Chief Operating Officer at Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV), where he partnered with Symal on various projects, including the Pakenham Roads upgrade and the bridge over the M1.
In this new position at Symal, Steve will play a pivotal role in supporting Symal’s ambitious growth, helping to drive our initiatives in the defence sector, and ensuring Symal remains at the forefront of Government for innovation and excellence.
Steve will also oversee the critical aspects of Symal’s operations to enhance efficiency and productivity in the PPL team, take the lead in supporting major projects and large joint ventures within the Symal Group, and leverage key opportunities to support the strategic development of Indigenous contractor Wamarra.
Steve’s experience building a culture of collaboration with industry, increasing the use of recycled materials, investment in social procurement, and a greater focus on gender equality make him a great asset to the Symal team.
Symal Group CEO Nabeel Sadaka remarked, "Steve's proven success, his leadership in driving change and his commitment to working with the broader industry and community make him the perfect fit for this role."
We are thrilled to have Steve join our team and are confident that his strategic vision and operational expertise will greatly contribute to Symal's continued success.
