The ~$70 million main works construction package includes a new racetrack and associated facilities to enhance the racing experience. This will bring to life a sustainable, contemporary precinct for Moonee Valley Racing Club (MVRC) members, visitors, and the wider community. Construction will begin following the 2025 Ladbrokes Cox Plate Carnival.
Over nine months, Symal’s integrated technical and design management teams worked closely with the client and consultants to tackle complex design and operational challenges. This collaborative process unlocked significant project savings, optimised staging and enhanced long-term functionality, without compromising quality.
“Delivering ‘The Valley of Tomorrow’ takes more than building - it takes foresight, trust and true partnership,” said Joe Bartolo, Group Managing Director. “Our ECI approach enabled early decisions around constructability and cost, helping shape a smarter program and cost solutions that gave the client real certainty and confidence.”
The scope of work includes bulk earthworks, services including new track lighting, retaining walls, underpasses, racing infrastructure and full track reconstruction.
Symal’s team embedded buildability into the design from the outset, providing pricing clarity at critical decision points and empowering the client to stay in the driver’s seat throughout.
By formalising stakeholder input and proactively managing risks, Symal kept the program on track and set a new benchmark for collaborative project delivery.
“The Moonee Valley Racing Club is delighted to appoint Symal as our partner to deliver the new Moonee Valley Racecourse precinct civil and infrastructure works,” said Adam Lennen, Moonee Valley Racing Club Chair. “Symal has a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects, and this appointment marks a significant milestone for the Club as we prepare to embark on delivering our vision for The Valley of Tomorrow following the 2025 Ladbrokes Cox Plate Carnival.”
The Moonee Valley redevelopment is not just about racing. It’s about creating a thriving, inclusive destination with exciting new recreational spaces for the whole community.
We’re proud to be part of delivering The Valley of Tomorrow.
