We’re officially a Veteran Employer of Choice!

Symal has been awarded gold status as a Veteran Employer of Choice (VEC), the highest level of accreditation from the Veteran Employment Program. 

This marks an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to supporting and growing veterans in building and making meaningful careers beyond service.  

The accreditation recognises our current workplace policies and practices in supporting veteran employment. Implementing and championing veteran employment initiatives opens doors for continuous recruiting and retaining of veterans. 

Veterans bring leadership, resilience and a strong sense of teamwork - qualities that are core to the way we work at Symal. Their experience continues to shape our sites, influence our culture and drive our impact across the industry.   

Built with purpose 

Resolve, our dedicated program designed to help veterans transition into civilian roles, played a massive role in Symal being recognised as a VEC. The program includes tailored onboarding, veteran-led mentoring, flexible work options and meaningful opportunities across the construction and support sides of our business.

This accreditation is a nod to the work already underway through Resolve and strengthens our commitment to continuing and growing these efforts.

And a huge shoutout to Joe Piasecki, our Veteran Engagement Manager, whose passion and dedication shaped the foundation of this achievement. Joe led the charge in developing our Veteran Engagement Strategy, working tirelessly to turn an idea into a recognised program that’s now earned national accreditation. 

But the recognition is more than a badge; it’s a reflection of our values. We know veterans have so much to offer and we’re proud to be creating a workplace where their work is valued all year round.  

We now stand alongside leading organisations such as Boeing and Aurecon, recognised nationally for championing veteran employment and we look forward to continuing this important work, sharing more stories and welcoming even more veterans into the Symal team.
