Another successful project completion is in the books!
An icon in Glen Eria for over 50 years, Symal played a major role in transforming the much-loved Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool into a state-of-the-art facility for the local community.
Located at Moira Avenue in Carnegie, the redevelopment involved demolishing the old centre, pools, and surrounding infrastructure to make way for a modern facility featuring three outdoor pools, and two indoor pools.
Our team worked with ADCO to adjust to their needs as the project progressed. What began as a straightforward contract, with the initial scope of bulk earthworks, led to more complex concrete structures and hard landscaping.
The initial scope of bulk earthworks included filling the old pools, excavation for the new ones, and constructing haul roads and crane pads to support the build. We also delivered the new car park, incorporating a Tree Vault system, rain gardens, excavations for public lighting and managing traffic for the off-street car park development. All this while handling significant volumes of contaminated soil for export and off-site recycling.
Showcasing our ability to provide end-to-end solutions, Symal’s scope of works developed into hard landscaping, where the team constructed 5,200 m2 of coloured and exposed pavement and self-performed 700m of in situ concrete retaining walls. On the structural side, we built concrete piles, shade cloth columns, and a suspended plant room concrete slab.
This project is great achievement for the team who swiftly jumped into the action, mobilising resources and getting the job done, while making sure we met tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.
Taking just over a year and a half to build, the redevelopment of the Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool is a testament to the expertise of the team in delivering high-quality, community-focused infrastructure. Now open to the public, this vibrant space is welcoming visitors, offering a fantastic space for swimming and recreation.
