We’ve wrapped up our civil works on Costco Wholesale’s brand-new store in Ardeer, delivering an end-to-end package for this major retail development on Ballarat Road.

From the first machines on-site for bulk earthworks to the final touches on upgraded traffic signals, our team was involved every step of the way. Working alongside Mainbrace Constructions, we helped bring the 58,000sqm site to life—featuring a new wholesale store, fuel station, and close to 800 on-site car parks.

Our works began with early site preparation, including the placement of 65,000 cubic metres of imported fill, that’s enough to fill 26 Olympic-sized swimming pools, and 14,500 square metres of cement-treated crushed rock to support an accelerated build program.

From there, we delivered all remaining civil works across the site, including road construction, stormwater infrastructure and public realm upgrades. This included 30,000 square metres of asphalt, 5,000 metres of slotted kerb, a suspended concrete deck to support the fuel station, and 1,900 square metres of bioretention swales to manage and treat stormwater.

We also carried out a full upgrade to the signalised intersection on Ballarat Road, adding new turning lanes, improved lighting, upgraded stormwater infrastructure, fresh concrete footpaths and clear line marking with traffic bollards to keep everything running smoothly and safely.

A highlight of the project was our smart, cost-effective approach to the bioretention swales. Positioned between the parking bays, these landscaped features help capture and clean stormwater on-site before it enters the wider network. It’s a win for the environment and the budget—delivering strong outcomes without driving up costs.

We were committed to keeping things as hassle-free as possible for the local community. To minimise disruption, all major roadworks on Ballarat Road were carried out overnight, between 9pm and 5am, all while making sure residents stayed informed with letter drops and a dedicated hotline.

A big thank you to our team on the ground and partners for their efforts on another successful project. We’re proud to play our part in shaping new spaces across Melbourne!
