Partnering with Lendlease, Symal Contractors completed the major works package at Craigieburn Community Hospital, an upgraded and expanded community facility built to alleviate the burden on nearby hospitals and provide better access to integrated healthcare for communities in Melbourne’s north.
The development combines extensive upgrade works to the Northern Health Craigieburn Centre with an additional 22,000 square metre facility built on an adjoining greenfields site.
In addition to demolishing sections of the existing building for upgrade and establishing temporary haul roads, pathways, carpark, hardstands and crossovers during construction, Contractors were responsible for a range of works across the project.
Our scope covered a truck wash with settlement tank and rumble grid, site strip, bulk excavation, spoil removal, foundation piling design and construction, pile caps, lift overruns, inground footings, beams, slabs on ground, site and subgrade preparation, stormwater and rainwater drainage, and asphalts/pavements.
Contractors’ expert coordination of works to be completed and management of trades on site showed in its ability to complete eight structural pours in seven weeks, moving 5,500 cubic metres of soil and pouring 2,000 cubic metres of concrete.
