East Sale RAAF Base Pilot Training Facility

The East Sale RAAF Base is a state-of-the-art facility with upgraded pilot training infrastructure as part of the Pilot Training Systems Project to develop trainees from initial flight screening through to advanced fighter training courses.

In conjunction with Laing O’Rourke and the Department of Defence, we completed commencement works at the East Sale RAAF Base. The project included the delivery of a flight line shelter for 28 aircraft, aircraft storage hangar for 17 aircraft, 100,000m of pavements and 50,000m of earthworks.

Handling the project meant navigating through a staged construction plan while keeping the airfield running smoothly, all while making sure more than 30 pieces of heavy machinery were in sync.

Rigorous quality control measures were enforced, entailing intricate testing protocols for concrete pavement construction. Operating within a secure Federal Defence site introduced additional complexities, necessitating stringent access protocols and extensive approval procedures involving numerous stakeholders.
