The Maryvale Solar and Energy Storage Project is a major renewable energy development supporting New South Wales’ transition to clean, reliable power. Located in Maryvale, within the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone, the project combines solar generation with battery energy storage to deliver affordable, dispatchable and firmed energy to the grid.
Unyte has been engaged by PCL Contractors Pacific Rim to deliver the full suite of civil works for the solar farm, playing a key role in preparing the site for long-term, high-performance operation.
Unyte’s works include extensive earthworks, stabilisation, drainage and access infrastructure across the site, including:
145,000m² of FCR road pavements
83,000t of crushed rock supplied
115,000m² of lime stabilisation
26,000m³ of cut and fill bulk earthworks
100m of box culverts and drainage pipes
8,000m³ of Level 1 substation fill placement
15,000m³ of PCU and BESS pad fill construction
4,000m² of concrete floodways
Rock scour protection works
Signage supply and installation
The project has required a considered and collaborative approach, with several technical and logistical challenges addressed throughout delivery. Early geotechnical investigations allowed the team to optimise ground treatment, including the use of lime stabilisation in place of increased pavement thickness to meet client CBR requirements. This solution improved constructability while maintaining performance outcomes.
The team has also managed heavy interfaces with multiple subcontractors, significant volumes of plant and machinery, and complex access and traffic constraints.
Delivered with a strong focus on safety, quality and environmental care, our work at the Maryvale project is helping lay the foundations for critical renewable energy infrastructure in regional New South Wales. The package is progressing well and on track for completion in 2026.
