Mount Pleasant Rail 2 Project

Bridge & Civil, now absorbed by Symal Infrastructure, delivered two rail bridges for the Mount Pleasant Rail 2 Project: the Wybong Bridge which traverses over a T-Intersection and the Viaduct Bridge through a floodplain.

The 4-span, 107m long Wybong Bridge was a challenging build over live traffic on Wybong Road during construction. While the Viaduct Bridge consisted of a 7-span structure spanning an impressive 198m long and 16m high.

The complexities of this project involved the manufacture of 33 precast girders weighing approximately 72t per unit, installation of 15m deep 1200 diameter foundation piles, construction of new concrete abutments and piers designed with 66 spherical bearings.

The two bridges were constructed simultaneously within 12 months, with successful completion on November 25, 2021.

The project was delivered on time and to exceptionally high standards, which ultimately led to the project winning the Category 4 ($10M to $30M) award at the CCF NSW Earth Awards 2022 for excellence in civil construction.
