With a road duplication spanning 1km, three intersection upgrades, and a large box culvert replacement works – Narre Warren North now has safer roads with this major upgrade!
Symal was engaged by Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) as the principal contractor under the Program Delivery Approach (PDA) model to deliver the major road upgrade between Fox Road and Belgrave-Hallam Road at Narre Warren North.
This upgrade has provided vital north-south connectivity in Melbourne’s growing south-eastern suburbs – on a road travelled by more than 18,000 vehicles every day.
The project started at Heatherton Road, adding the right turn lane into Belgrave-Hallam Road, then moved to the road duplication, Ernst Wanke Road intersection widening and finished with the signalisation of the Memorial Drive interaction.
Symal Project Manager, Walid Ahmadzai said, “As a local, it’s been exciting and rewarding to see the project come from where the road was before to where it is now.”
Symal is proud to have delivered the project to our client before the planned completion date, with key innovations along the way.
Our innovations addressed program delays, enhanced sustainability, improved productivity and mitigated risks associated with powerline clashes. They included.
The project scope involved keeping walls, stormwater system upgrades, safety barriers, and street lighting installation and overall achieved project delivery, environmental protection and social inclusion outcomes.
This successful project showcases the collaborative efforts between MRPV and Symal in delivering a major road upgrade that enhances safety, improves infrastructure and positively impacts the Narre Warren North community in future.
The frequency of crashes between Fox and Belgrave-Hallam roads was twice the average of the entire outer southeast metropolitan road network. MRPV’s project changes are designed to fix this problem, and Symal is delighted to have worked together to deliver community benefits on this project.
In the spirit of reconciliation, Symal acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, sea and water.
