Symal completed construction works at Toorak Road for the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP). An alliance of Laing O’Rourke, Jacobs and Metro Trains Melbourne delivered the $89 million contract to construct the rail bridge over Toorak Road.
Early works included haul road construction, type A and B fill, supply and installation of geofabric, crane pad construction for the installation of rail bridge, construction of laydown areas and pedestrian diversion paths around the LXRP.
The level crossing was removed 6 months ahead of schedule, following major works starting in September 2019. Removing the major bottleneck reduces congestion and improves safety for those travelling through the area.
In the spirit of reconciliation, Symal acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, sea and water.
