Performance has always been at the heart of Symal. We take pride in our ability to think and act quickly and deliver successful client outcomes. Monica Pawlak, our superstar HSEQ Systems Coordinator, has consistently demonstrated her passion for delivering the safety outcomes for our workers, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
That's why we’re extremely excited to announce her nomination for the Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Assurance (HSEQ) Award at the 2024 NAWIC Victoria Awards for Excellence.
The award recognises a woman who actively promotes the inclusion of health, safety, wellness, and environmentally responsible practices, as well as high-quality assurance principles and initiatives on a project or across an organisation operating in the construction industry.
Monica’s nomination recognises her work leading a comprehensive review of Symal’s Safety 7 system. One of her key accomplishments was developing high-risk inspections that incorporate our Safety 7 requirements and building the inspections into Hammertech. Her revisions introduced a more rigorous safety process that improved compliance and operational efficiency. She also played a crucial role in the rollout of the high-risk inspections with her site-based role and her hands-on approach to coaching and mentoring site teams to execute these proactive inspections.
Monica's impact extended beyond individual protocols; her review and enhancement of safety governance inspections underscored her commitment to fostering a culture of safety excellence. By integrating behavioural safety elements into daily operations, Monica ensured that safety was not just a procedure but a mindset embedded in Symal's safety culture.
With Monica’s dedication and leadership, we’re confident she’ll continue to drive change and inspire others across the group.
