Symal Breaks Footy Colours Day Fundraising Record with $182,795 for Kids with Cancer. 

The Symal Group, in collaboration with our businesses, employees, subcontractors, clients, and partners, achieved a remarkable fundraising milestone, collecting over $182,795 for Fight Cancer Foundation’s Footy Colours Day in 2023, which is a big stretch from humble beginnings of $550 in 2016.  

Footy Colours Day, a nationwide event in September, unites Australians in supporting children battling cancer. It drives fundraising for accommodation centers and vital cancer research. Symal’s record-breaking donation surpassed Fight Cancer Foundation’s corporate contribution record, with funds destined to aid accommodation centers and life-saving cancer research. 

Symal Construction Manager, Nick Loucaides, praised our team’s dedication, emphasising the profound impact on children and families fighting cancer. “Once you understand how the money raised supports the young kids battling through cancer treatment it really hits home how significant Symal’s contributions are to this worthy fundraiser. I have been lucky enough to meet some of these families, understand their social challenges and put some perspective into how important this charity is.” 

Our teams got creative in raising funds, making September a whirlwind of fun! From sizzling BBQs on Footy Colors Day at project sites around the country to raffles and silent auctions, engaging chats with our key contacts and employees, we kept the fundraising momentum going.  

Cara Davey, CEO of Fight Cancer Foundation, commended Symal’s efforts. “We are absolutely astounded by the generosity of the Symal Group and their clients and community.  It’s truly extraordinary; they have gone above and beyond to raise this amount, and to see leadership donate some sterling prizes to raise money is truly remarkable”, said Ms Davey.
