Symal, as part of the NEXUS consortium, has been selected as the preferred bidder for North East Link’s South Package.

What a milestone for the Symal Group! We are excited to take the next steps in building one of the largest projects in Victorian history with our NEXUS partners Laing O’Rourke, WSP and Arcadis.

The NEXUS consortium has been selected as the preferred bidder for the first part of a major overhaul of the Eastern Freeway. The work between Burke Road and Tram Road will connect with the new North East Link Tunnels, and will include new technology, express lanes, cycling paths and the first seven kilometers of the Eastern Express Busway.

The Symal Group has been on a journey of growth in recent years. We have accelerated to be the dynamic group of businesses we are today. We’ve worked incredibly hard over the years to be ready for a project of this caliber. This win deservedly recognises our delivery record, our people and our capabilities.

Our Managing Director and CEO share what this spectacular win means for Symal:

“This is a momentous accomplishment for the growth trajectory of our company. We have been building our people, projects, and teams in preparation for these kinds of projects and it has paid off! A project of this caliber puts Symal on a well-deserved stage. I am so proud of everyone and excited to see what the future holds,” said Joe Bartolo, Managing Director.

“I am really proud. Not only of how well our people have gone about working with our partners to secure this opportunity but also the contribution of our other businesses such as Wamarra and Sycle. These businesses have added to the story which has made this success possible. It has been a real Group contribution. I am also very excited about the opportunities this will provide for our People and our Group into the future.” said CEO Nabeel Sadaka.

We’re all about driving change, and this project will deliver shorter journey times, local communities will benefit from upgrades to cycling infrastructure and appealing urban design features, while new acoustic walls will help reduce noise pollution for nearby residents.

We’re building better together – in everything we do, and we are now part of Melbourne’s biggest ever road project. It’s a project of extraordinary vision, and Symal is proud to be playing our part in making it happen.

We welcome expressions of interest to join the Symal family at NELP Expression of Interest – Symal.
