Melbourne’s first dedicated busway is rolling…
As part of North East Link, Symal reconstructed Thompsons Road and completed the new Bulleen Park & Ride premium bus station.
We delivered an integrated bus terminal with a 370 multi-level car park, passenger facilities including a waiting room, dedicated quick drop-off and pick-up bays, a privacy and noise wall for residents, a bike storage cage, ramps, toilets, and myki services.
From the basement to the roof, the project scope covered post-tensioned car parks, an architecturally refined facade, internal fit-out, pavement works, lighting, traffic signals, bus stops, and kerb and channel works.
Our delivery of excellence has helped build a project that will stand the test of time, providing transformative infrastructure to enhance the community’s transport experience.
Becoming Melbourne’s first dedicated busway, Wamarra was contracted by Symal Infrastructure to undertake the landscaping works.
The renovated station now features a remarkable 5,000 square meter green roof, with 10,000 newly planted trees and shrubs, creating an enhanced environment for commuters.
Wamarra ensured sustainability by installing an efficient irrigation and waterproof membrane system while topsoil and mulch support plant growth and minimise ecological impact.
With Wamarra being a socially responsible business, they are proud this project delivered their Aboriginal workforce 800 hours of employment in a culturally safe and inclusive environment.
Fusing functionality with sustainability, Wamarra’s landscaping package has elevated the bus station into a vibrant eco-friendly hub that will provide long term benefits to the growing local community.
Symal takes pride in this milestone as part of the team that has been selected as the preferred bidder for the Eastern Freeway Upgrades from Burke Road to Tram Road.
