Building. Better. Together.

Symal is delivering the structural concrete and precast works for the Bulleen Park Sporting Facilities Upgrade, working closely with Built Environs and Development Victoria to safely and efficiently deliver a complex structural package within a live and evolving community precinct.

New sporting ovals are taking shape, fencing and lighting infrastructure is in place, and pavilion structures are progressing across multiple stages of construction. The former soccer pitches have been reshaped into a new AFL and cricket oval, with sports lighting, goal post footings and surface works completed or underway.

Within our scope, works include the delivery of the structural foundations and building frame for the new pavilion facilities. This has involved detailed excavation, concrete blinding and reinforced footing construction, followed by slab-on-ground works forming the base of the structures.

The scope also includes the construction of the primary structural system, with precast panel installation, in-situ concrete columns and post-tensioned suspended slabs forming the main pavilion structures. These elements bring together a high level of structural complexity, including hobs, plinths, balustrade cast-ins, embedded steelwork and architectural concrete detailing.

Works extend into key access and spectator infrastructure, including suspended ramps, concrete stairs and multi-tier curved seating. These features improve accessibility and movement through the precinct, while supporting the functionality of the upgraded sporting facilities.

Through close collaboration with Built Environs and coordination across the wider project team, Symal’s works are being delivered as part of a staged program supporting the ongoing transformation of Bulleen Park into a high-quality community sporting destination.

    Site establishment and early works

After site establishment, works kicked off with detailed excavation for ground beams and pile cap footings. The month wrapped up with slab-on-ground works, setting up the base for the pavilion structures.

    Structural concrete and precast installation

Construction continued with the installation of ground floor precast panels and formwork for the suspended structure. In-situ concrete columns and post-tensioned suspended slabs were delivered, incorporating hobs, plinths, balustrade cast-ins and embedded steelwork. Level 1 precast panels were then installed, gradually enclosing the pavilion structures and bringing the buildings into form.
