Upgrades to Doncaster Park and Ride will reshape an existing bus interchange and commuter car park into a more efficient and accessible transport hub for Melbourne’s east.
As part of the broader North East Link, Eastern Freeway Upgrades and new dedicated Eastern Busway, the project is focused on improving how the local community connect across the area. It will increase public transport capacity, ease congestion on surrounding roads and make it easier for people to choose the bus as part of their daily commute.
Symal is delivering key components of the project across the multi-storey car park, civil works and landscaping, helping bring the site together from the ground up.
Works on the car park include all in-ground structures such as footings, rafts, pile caps and ground beams, along with structural concrete and steel and slab on ground. The team is also completing bulk and detailed excavation and installing in-ground services including hydraulics and fire.
Across the wider site, civil works include earthworks, road pavements in both asphalt and concrete, footpaths and kerbing, along with civil and subsurface drainage. The scope also covers in-ground services, road furniture, wayfinding signage and line marking.
Landscaping works will shape the final look and feel of the space, with a mix of hardscape and softscape elements including planting, irrigation, planters and edging. Public amenities such as bike repair stations, drinking fountains and feature rock elements will also be delivered.
With completion of the car park building expected in late 2026, upgrades to Doncaster Park and Ride will support a more connected and reliable transport network in Melbourne’s east.
