Grampians Excavations were contracted to work on the Cherry Street Level Crossing Removal in Werribee for Western Program Alliance (WPA), part of the Level Crossing Removal Authority (LCRA).
Grampians completed the bulk excavation and back fill of the pedestrian underpass over six days in August 2020.
The occupation works consisted of removing the existing rail and infrastructure, excavating out 4000m3 of earth 6m deep, ground improvement, installing 80T precast culvert, back filling the culvert structure and reinstating the rail infrastructure.
The team occupied the ARTC line for just 60 hours, completing the works and handing over to ARTC and Metro lines on schedule.
