Focused on safety, reliability and long-term growth, we’re proud to be continuing works on Victoria’s Big Build, delivering essential upgrades to Racecourse Road. We’re laying new road lanes and shared paths and upgrading drainage and utility services that will serve the Pakenham community for decades to come.
Our strength lies in our collective intelligence.
Driven by community needs, we’re problem-solving with purpose - innovating with intent to keep people moving safely while we build for the future.
From smarter pedestrian links to clever temporary access solutions, our team is delivering improvements without disrupting local access. A standout achievement so far? The near-completion of the new shared user path linking Princes Freeway to 7-Eleven. Final touches are underway, with the path set to open to cyclists and pedestrians by mid to late August, supporting a safer, more active Pakenham.
Further west at Bald Hill, we’ve rolled out a 170-metre temporary access road using 150 tonnes of asphalt - that’s the weight of 25 adult elephants! A simple, effective solution that kept businesses connected during roundabout works, proving innovation doesn’t always mean high-tech - it means responding to community needs with practical, timely solutions.
In early July, we kicked off stage one of the western half closure on Bald Hill Road. With the temporary access road in action, crews kept things moving by powering ahead on the first half of the intersection while traffic continued to flow in both directions along Healesville-Koo Wee Rup and Racecourse Road.
We roll up our sleeves and get the job done, together.
This project is a true example of building better together - hands-on collaboration with our team and the local community to bring Racecourse Road to life.
Along Pakenham Creek, we’ve removed over 7,000 cubic metres of earth - the equivalent of three Olympic swimming pools - to install 22 culverts, strengthening drainage and resilience. With more than 750 metres of stormwater and 1,250 metres of subsurface drainage now in place, we’re laying the foundation for future growth as Racecourse Road transforms into a dual carriageway.
Together with our mates at Unyte, our fleet of excavators, rollers and graders has been working seamlessly day and night. We’ve pushed over 5,000 tonnes of crushed rock and laid 1,900 tonnes of asphalt - all made possible by teamwork and determination on the ground.
When we say we’ll do something, we make it happen
At Deep Creek, we’ve hit a major milestone - completing Stage One of the new culvert installation. This involved precision lifting of 22 precast concrete units, each weighing 8 tonnes, with a 110-tonne crane.
With 100 cubic metres of concrete poured and 18 tonnes of reinforcing steel laid, this achievement highlights more than technical skill - it showcases what’s possible when smart planning, teamwork and a shared vision come together.
As Walid Ahmadzai, Senior Project Manager, says:
“This is where the planning pays off and the project really comes alive.”
With each milestone, we’re building safer, stronger connections for Pakenham - pushing what’s possible, innovating with intent and building better together.
More progress updates are on the way. Watch this space!
