A revitalised Yarra River

The Greenline Project is a transformative urban regeneration project revitalising the north bank of Melbourne's Yarra River, Birrarung. It aligns closely with the strategic objectives of both the Melbourne City Council and the community, aiming to enhance the well-being of residents, workers and visitors while preserving and enhancing the ecological health of the river and its surroundings.

Building. Better. Together.

Symal proudly delivered Site One of the project alongside Wamarra, completing works that strengthened ecological diversity and brought new life to the Birrarung Marr parkland edge. These works included the construction of beautifully integrated boardwalks, upgrades to the riverside promenade and the creation of inviting gathering spaces designed for cultural activities, community connection and major city events. Together, these outcomes have helped establish the precinct as a vibrant destination for both everyday enjoyment and large-scale celebrations.

Our completed scope of works covered a broad range of civil and landscaping elements essential to the project’s success. This included the construction of boardwalk structures, installation of lighting and electrical infrastructure, delivery of stormwater drainage solutions, and the creation of meadows and diverse vegetation zones. The works also included pavements, footpaths, retaining walls, seating and other structural features, improving accessibility, comfort and ease of movement throughout the site, providing people with the ability to better connect with the Yarra River Birrarung and Melbourne.
