Dunnings and Palmers Roads (Point Cook Road to Princes Freeway) has more than 18,000 cars and trucks each day. Symal delivered a key upgrade at Dunnings Road and Palmers Road between Princes Freeway and Point Cook Road as part of the Netflow Consortium to help to reduce traffic congestion, deliver more reliable travel times and improve safety in the area.
The $1.8 billion Western Roads Upgrade public-private partnership comprises priority road upgrades and more than 260 kilometres of road rehabilitation and maintenance across Melbourne’s west for 23 years.
The infrastructure project scope included adding an extra traffic lane in each direction as well as a dedicated bus lane in each direction from Wallace Avenue to Dunnings Road; widening Skeleton Creek bridge with lifting 21 bridge beams weighing a total of 850 tonnes lifted into place by two 250 tonne cranes; upgrading 10 intersections, and building walking and cycling paths.
In the spirit of reconciliation, Symal acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, sea and water.
