Just outside of Werribee, Unyte, formally known as Grampians Excavations – contracted to McConnell Dowell – is undertaking work utilising a fleet of modern plant at the Wyndham Vale Stabling Yard delivered by WPA (Western Projects Alliance) part of the Level Crossing Removal Authority.
Grampians Excavations is performing works with its heavy equipment and plant fleet – excavators and rollers – to complete bulk earthworks in widening the rail corridor at the Wyndham Vale Stabling Yard. The facility will have a capacity for six trains to be stabled plus refuelling facilities and a bypass track connected to the Geelong line to avoid delaying passenger services.
The Wyndham Vale Stabling Yard, expected to be completed in 2020, will provide a new train storage yard for regional trains and replace the existing stabling at the E-Gate facility near Footscray making way for an extension of Wurundjeri Way as part of the West Gate Tunnel Project.
The WPA is a McConnell Dowell, Arup and Mott MacDonald-led alliance.
