Building an inclusive future together

Symal is committed to creating a workplace where everyone can grow, succeed and feel valued, both on-site and in the office. We know that supporting women in construction isn’t just about words – it’s about marching forward and accelerating action.

We recently spoke to Olivia Bartolo, Chief People and Culture Officer and Symal’s first female member, to reflect on the progress that we have made so far. Olivia has been with Symal for over 20 years and has seen firsthand how the industry continues to evolve. “We’re committed to having open conversations, challenging the status quo and making meaningful change,” Olivia says.

We’re doing this through our networking events, bringing together women from across the business to connect, learn and support each other. These events are not just about coming together – they are about growing together. Whether it’s an inspirational guest speaker or an open panel discussion, everyone walks away with new insights and practical tools to continue to inspire them to build a career in the evolving construction company.

We know that change doesn’t happen overnight, but every step forward is an important one. By providing opportunities for women to build strong networks, gain knowledge, and step into leadership roles, we are strengthening our commitment to a more inclusive industry.

As International Women’s Day approaches, we are proud of the progress we have made, but we are even more focused on what lies ahead as we continue to march forward and build better together.
