Designed to do exactly what the name suggests, Spark gives students the chance to roll up their sleeves, ask questions and experience the industry firsthand, from creative roles in the office to major infrastructure projects on-site.
Creativity meets construction
With a strong interest in videography and media, Logan spent his time embedded in Symal’s marketing team, gaining hands-on experience with social media, photography and digital content.
“My favourite part was creating content and seeing how it’s actually used across the business,” Logan shared. “I didn’t realise how creative and collaborative the construction industry could be!”
The experience gave Logan a clearer picture of what a career in marketing could look like and even sparked interest in pursuing the field in the future.
Seeing the bigger picture
Khalid’s Spark experience offered a wide-ranging snapshot of Symal’s operations, spending time with our HR and Legal teams, as well as on-site at stage three of the Pakenham Road Upgrade.
“Being able to see so many parts of the business really showed me how everything connects,” Khalid said. “From office teams to site crews, everyone plays an important role.”
The experience helped Khalid gain a deeper understanding of the scale, teamwork and coordination behind major projects and the many moving parts that make them possible.
Sparking curiosity for the future
Spark continues to give students meaningful exposure to real workplaces, helping them explore interests and uncover career paths they may not have previously considered.
Symal is proud to support the next generation by opening doors, sharing knowledge and inspiring young minds through experiences like Spark.
