Meet Alex Holman, a young achiever with a bright future

  • Who we are

Symal is no stranger to remarkable talents, and Alex Holman is undoubtedly one of our shining stars. Her dedication, leadership, and extraordinary contributions to engineering have earned her a well-deserved nomination for the 2023 NAWIC Young Achiever Award.

This accolade recognises individuals under 30 years old who have made significant strides in the construction, property, or infrastructure development industries. Nominees are evaluated based on the significance of their contributions, leadership potential, and community involvement.

Alex’s journey is nothing short of inspiring.

As a skilled civil engineer, Alex played a pivotal role in successfully delivering the complex Berwick Multi Deck Car Park project for Fulton Hogan. Her responsibilities spanned project management, safety compliance, procurement, cost tracking, and client engagement.

This project involved a bus interchange, a new bus loop, six bus stops, kiss and ride bays, and a 661-car multi-deck car park at Berwick Railway station in Melbourne’s southeast. Despite procurement challenges, Alex’s resourcefulness and strategic decision-making overcame delays by sourcing alternatives from local suppliers.

Her keen eye for detail, effective leadership, and excellent communication skills significantly contributed to the project’s success, solidifying her reputation as a reliable professional.

In addition to her on site accomplishments, Alex excelled in Symal’s Ignite Graduate Program. Her initiative, willingness to seek guidance from industry allies, and proactive approach led to her completing the program in record time – ten months!

Alex’s passion for engineering, unwavering determination, and her commitment to positively impacting communities through her work inspire us all.
