Symal is proud to be delivering the civil works package for the new Gugaa Substation as part of TransGrid’s HumeLink West Joint Venture (HJWLV), one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects. HumeLink will play a vital role in connecting renewable energy to the grid, strengthening supply and supporting Australia’s transition to a more reliable and affordable energy future.
Located in Gregadoo, NSW, our team commenced work in August 2025 and is progressing strongly across early earthworks. The scope includes cut-to-fill activities for the future 500 kV and 330 kV substation platforms, with the 500 kV platform nearing completion and topsoil stripping now underway on the 330 kV area.
To date, more than 40,000 m³ of material has been safely moved as we establish the foundations for this critical piece of infrastructure.
Drainage works are also advancing, with culverts now installed along the access road. This will lead into the delivery of approximately 70 precast pits, forming a drainage network stretching nearly 2 kilometres across the site.
Working within an existing transmission corridor, our team continues to collaborate closely with HJWLV, planning carefully around existing lines and easements to maintain safety, quality and productivity throughout delivery.
Civil works are on track for completion in early 2026, with the project progressing strongly toward the following stages.
