Unyte is proud to be delivering bulk earthworks and hardstand construction for the upgrade of the City of Gold Coast's Pimpama Sewage Treatment Plant – a major project that will double the facility’s existing capacity to support the rapidly growing northern Gold Coast region.
Working with Fulton Hogan, our team kicked off Stage 1 in March 2025 and is on track to wrap up these works by early August. So far, the team has cleared and grubbed 3,150 square metres of site, stripped 2,000 square metres of topsoil, and constructed erosion and sediment controls including a new sediment basin. We’ve also managed dust suppression and haul road maintenance throughout the site.
The scope has involved significant bulk earthworks, with 40,000 cubic metres of material cut to stockpile and hardstand areas, we’re talking the size of 16 Olympic swimming pools. All acid sulphate soils have been carefully managed and treated, while 4,000 cubic metres of unsuitable material have been disposed of off-site. Works have included the installation of 1,700 metres of detailed subsoil drainage and placement of 700 cubic metres of no-fines concrete to support future structures.
Unyte will re-mobilise back to site in early 2026 to deliver Stage 2 works, which include backfilling 7,500 cubic metres around all new structures.
By increasing capacity and improving efficiency at the Pimpama Sewage Treatment Plant, this project will reduce operational costs and ensure the City of Gold Coast can continue meeting the needs of its growing community well into the future.
