What a result! In our 11th year supporting Fight Cancer Foundation’s Footy Colours Day, we’ve raised a record $320,040, taking our total over the past 11 years beyond $1.3 million. Thanks to the incredible support of our people, partners, clients and communities, we’ve now broken our annual fundraising record for three years running.
“Every year, our people find new ways to get behind Footy Colours Day, and this year was no different,” said Nick Loucaides, Symal Footy Colours Day Captain and Operations Manager.
“To raise more than $320,000 and pass the $1 million milestone after 11 years is an incredible achievement. It’s a testament to the generosity of our people, clients, partners and communities, and the impact we can have when we all get behind something that matters.”
Bringing our colours to the Valley!
There was plenty of footy spirit at the Moonee Valley Racecourse Redevelopment, where our people traded their work gear for their favourite colours and brought some friendly competition to the track. There were big kicks down the straight, raffle prizes up for grabs and plenty happening around the BBQ.
The event raised more than $7,000 for Fight Cancer Foundation, with Foundation ambassadors and Collingwood star Jack Crisp, alongside new ambassador Marlaina McPhillips, joining in the fun.
Another big score across the Eastern Freeway Upgrades
The footy spirit continued across the Eastern Freeway Upgrades, where the Eastern Burke to Tram Alliance brought people together at Bulleen, Doncaster, Elgar Park and Nunawading.
Balwyn North hosted the main event, with footy competitions, raffles and a BBQ keeping everyone entertained. Collingwood legend Dane Swan and renowned umpire David Rodan also dropped by, adding some star power to the celebrations.
Across all four sites, the teams raised an impressive $26,220 for Fight Cancer Foundation. A fantastic effort from everyone involved, with the fundraising spirit reaching well beyond the main event.
A group-wide effort
Footy Colours Day spirit was strong right across Symal Group, with Unyte, Sycle, Locale, Searo, Wamarra, Ascot Bin Hire, Davison, Timms, L&D and McFadyen all getting involved.
For Timms, L&D and McFadyen, it was their first Footy Colours Day as part of the Group. All three hit the ground running, smashing their fundraising targets in their debut year.
Three years. Three records.
This year’s result marks our third consecutive annual fundraising record. After raising more than $280,000 in 2024 and $296,022 in 2025, we’ve gone bigger again in 2026 with $320,040.
It’s a remarkable milestone when you consider where it all started: a $550 fundraiser back in 2016. Eleven years later, our total has surpassed $1.3 million, thanks to the people who continue to get behind the day year after year.
Every dollar raised helps Fight Cancer Foundation support children and families facing cancer, providing practical assistance, education and accommodation support during an incredibly challenging time.
A huge thank you to everyone who pulled on their colours and got involved. Your support is helping make a meaningful difference to children and families when they need it most.
We’ll see you on the field next year.
