Matthew Gurney joined Symal Group in 2015 and oversees the Business’ Major Infrastructure operations across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland.
As Executive General Manager, Matthew is responsible for managing the delivery of major construction contracts in both the public and private sectors. His expertise covers various commercial frameworks, including Design and Construct (D&C), Alliance, Integrated Target Costing (ITC), Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), and subcontracting. Matthew’s extensive experience in civil construction spans sectors such as road and bridge construction, renewable energy, water, defence, rail, aviation, and port infrastructure.
With over 19 years in the construction industry, Matthew has held senior positions at Leighton Contractors and BMD. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from RMIT University, completed in 2005.
Ben is an exceptional leader with over two decades of industry experience delivering complex civil infrastructure projects in Australia and the UK, particularly in the road, rail, energy and marine sectors. His strategic vision and commitment to fostering a high-performance culture make him the ideal person to drive our expansion into NSW.
Dan brings a wealth of business development and leadership experience to Symal. With a strong track record across the East Coast construction industry, he has led high-performing teams, driven strategic growth, and built lasting client partnerships. Before joining Symal, Dan ran his own consultancy for ten years, including a major engagement with the Brisbane Broncos where he established and led their B2B Networking Group.
Based in our Eight Mile Plains office, Dan steps in to lead Symal’s refreshed business development function. He is focused on unifying business development efforts across the Group, particularly in Queensland and New South Wales, to create a cohesive, proactive and strategic growth engine.
Known for his energy, collaboration and entrepreneurial mindset, Dan is excited to help shape Symal’s next chapter and continue driving the momentum behind the business.
